The Task

Using the lyrics to a song of your choice, create a one-minute motion sequence using limited color, animated typography, and treated images or footage. Consider the content of the song and how the beat and lyrics can influence the motion. Create an interesting and thoughtful narrative.

The Process

I researched the song and the artists, what the song meant to them and how it was received by the public. I looked at the artistic styles of the time and chose the electronic and dark moody styles to match the feel of the song.

The Takeaway

Because of limited time, I did not have a chance to create a full storyboard before moving into the animation stage. It is always a good idea to complete the planning stage of a project, especially with motion design. Creating and animating at the same time can be very grueling.
